Last night I decided I would have another go at Gnome. I seem to use it for a few days (read max of two) and then revert back to one of the *box desktops. This time my plan of attack to make me see what is so great about gnome is to not try and change it right away to feel more like openbox or blackbox. What I have done this time is use everything I can find and keep it on until I decide if it is of any use to me. It would also be good to note that I am running this all on my laptop, so I figure if it seems snappy enough on this anything can run it fine. One key thing pushing me to it that I really liked was a “blog IT” panel app I saw on a screen shot of eccentric’s. It would mean I would have to use a standard blog system and not use my own.. but I am not really fixing mine or doing anything with it other than posts so it might be for the best.
