Gnome over KDE desktop

I was just talking to someone online about the whole KDE and Gnome desktop manager system. Both of us seem to be into the *box thing.. He is into fluxbox and me into openbox, but we both would rather use Gnome over KDE. The one thing I see KDE has over gnome is the file browser. The mouse over previews are great in kde and I really dont like how if I dont goto browse in Gnome that it will always open a new window when I click on a new directory. That is my only beef so far with the whole gnome desktop, but I would still much rather use it over KDE.

  1. You may already know this, but you can open new folders in gnome and close the old window by holding down the shift key while you click. One of the neat things that I like about the gnome file manager is that it remembers everything about how you open folders. So for instance, if you open a folder and size a specific height/width and scroll half way down the list of files, and then close the window, logout/reboot or whatever and go back to that folder again, it will be in the exact same spot. This is kind of weird behaviour at first if your not used to it, but it makes so much more sense in terms of file browsing.

As for the mouse over previews in KDE, ya.. those kick ass :) I wish gnome had them.

  2. I tend not to like the remeber my setting for each folder.. I would perfer it to just remeber one size for all. I do know the shift as I remeber you told me about it before, but I really like the browse mode.
