PS2 Review: Prince of Persia The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia First thoughts on this game was it has some amazing cinematics. The opening scene and cuts scenes look and sound like a motion picture. In game graphics and control systems are done extremely well. The view angles work better than most games of this style before it. The only time I found I needed to change camera angles was when trying to solve something with no fighting going on (a major plus). The puzzles in the game all follow the same idea of jumping grabbing and moving from area to area, sometimes having to do this in a certain order. The levels are fairly large and load time is quicker than most games of this size.

As I mentioned above the camera angles in the fights follow you amazingly well and controls of the fights are easy for most gamers. Some combos actually break out into a mini fight scene slowed down, this adds some great visuals to the fight. Everything in the game has a very natural feel to it. From the health being replenished by drinking water from the fountains, to fluid motions and controls.

The story starts you (a warrior prince) in the middle of a great battle. After the battle is over a great evil is mistakenly released over the land. Your job armed with the Dagger of Time (a magical dagger able to turn back time) is to correct the wrong that has been done.

Overall the game was one of my all time favorite ps2 games to date. Although not taking a very long time to finish it was very enjoyable and worth the purchase. The game play is extended with the ability to unlock the original Prince of Persia Series.

Ended up watching Domino.. I didnt really know what the movie was about going into it, but I was pretty happy with the movie over all. They had a great cast on it and the story was great (a little hard to follow in some parts). It really made me think about how great a actor Mickey Rourke is. He is actually in a few of my fav. movies. It has a fair amount of violence and gore that never hurts a movie. Its no Devils Rejects but its a pretty good movie that you should check out if you like violent movies.

Just finished up playing a few games of the orig Socom online with Wilt. We didn’t do very well againt anyone else, but it was good fun and we can only get better. Wilt also started a clan so maybe we can get a few more people to join us (it would be nice if they where some what local people).

Another game that is coming out this month that is kinda the same idea is America’s Army. I didnt even know it was coming out on ps2 till I did a search on Amazon for the cover of Socom. I dont know if it would work as well on the ps2 as socom does, but it seems to already be a pretty low priced game.

A little while back I got yet another Flaming Lips album “At War With The Mystics” and I have to mention that this is one of the best albums I have heard from them (second only to Transmissions from the Satellite Heart). Its very different as is most there stuff, but it grows on you really quick.

Upgraded to the latest version of wordpress today, I am guessing that tomorrow they will have a new version as I seem to always just do the upgrade to get a email saying there is a newer one the next day. Anyway if there are any issues that you notice let me know. Right now I have a ton of comments to mark as spam.
