I have to say when I first heard of the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) Project I didn’t really see how this was a great idea. I can understand the whole teach them so they can do more there lives, but when you are in need of food and clothes and a place to live… Well a laptop might just not been what you really want. Anyway it was done a while back and the final design looked rather odd, but it was under $100 and seemed pretty good for the price range they where looking at.

The FAQ on there wiki talks about “class room servers” and that “The laptop is cheaper than two or three ordinary textbooks, but gives access to the entire wealth of information on the Internet”. All great points.. But do you really think they are going to have a internet connection at most schools in developing nations where the cost of three textbooks is to high?

Well at least they can use the hand crank and play Doom. If they thought it corrupted the minds of people that grew up with ninja fighting turtles and Pee-Wee Herman, I can’t wait to see what it does to someone who has never even watched tv before.

A few days back a friend asked me if I had seen anything about hooking up a classic controller for nes or snes to the Wii. Well it has landed and you can buy them over at RetroZone.

Seems someone with a fair amount of time on there hands created a good little clip of the Big Lebowski with the Nintendo Wii. Check it out over at GameTrailers.com.

Google is slowly starting to take over more and more of my life. Today marked another day of it comming into another part of my every day usage. For a long while now I have been using bloglines for all my news reading needs, but today I decided to play around with google reader. It is still being worked on in the google labs but seems to have all the features I would want and have come to expect form a online news reader. It feels very much like a gmail account and exporting my feeds from bloglines to google reader was a painless process.

Racket Boy has a nice article on how to change a snes game save battery. It actually makes me want to dig through all my classic games to see what ones actually still work.
