The Linux Novell Deal
I have been reading a fair amount of the whole Novell / Microsoft Deal.. I actually had a talk with someone at work who is a KDE fan and they suggested that I switch from my beloved gnome because of this and the whole Mono (.Net) merger…. I dont think I will be switching anytime in the see able future right now (if i switched it would be back to openbox, or something along those lines).
Two Interesting articles I found online from Aug. of this year almost make sense to this whole thing… Well atleast to me anyhow..
MS and Novell: the end of a good feud (here we have the current issue)
Microsoft talks up interoperability, EC vs. MS: IT depts find a champ in Europe (Early this year).
I’m not GPL expert but why is no one mentioning this whole relationship? It would makes sense that if MS just lost a case based on the fact that people could not interact with there OS this would be a logical move. Why not just pay the other guy to make it work and control it still. Meaning they can dump money and time into “extra” non-free parts of Novell and then you cant say nothing else works with it.
