Computer Change Is A Foot

Posted in General on December 31st, 2006 by hurt – 2 Comments

This weekend has been packed full of redoing the home network. I have been living off the laptop for the past few weeks and have not even had the server or main workstation on. I ended up doing a trade with eccentric, my lian-li case for a Sonata case with some of the AcoustiPack for it. I am not sure if it is actually that stuff, but it looks pretty close to that on the side panel. This this has cut down on a fair amount of the noise and I might end up getting some quieter options for my video card. I would like to get something else for my cpu too, but the mainboard does not have the mounting holes that most of these options require.. It might just have to wait till my next mainboard upgrade.

I also picked up a Acer 19″ wide screen LCD to replace the dual head 17″ CRT setup I was using. It has some less desktop realestate but cleans up the desk and for the summer will help keep the living room below boiling point with all the heat the CRTs and TV pump into the room.

Anyway I am pretty happy with the setup so far.. Mind you I had some major issues with harddrives dying during the install.. I have also not setup the workstation with a mirror for the first time in a while. It should actually speed things up a little, but I did like the extra protection before.

And now for the screen shot.. This should keep you warm on those winter nights. :)

Nintendo Wifi Connections 2006 Xmas

I noticed that hardly anyone was playing DS on the 24th for Dec, but then if you look at the graph for the 25th it jumps huge. I guess a fair number of people ended up getting a Nintendo DS for Xmas. The actually stats for Dec 24th Day 0 connections (guessing it is rounding cause I was on), Night 0 connections. the 25th 35620 connections in the day with 28194 at night.

Chances might be that for what ever reason stats where not ran on the 24th, but there is still a larger than normal connection count on the 25th of Dec.

Ps2/Ps1 Horrible on Ps3

A little while back racketboy posted a article called Playstation 3′s Backwards Compatibility Needs Help. At first I didn’t pay much attention to any of this talk, but ended up watching the little video of the Ps3/Ps2 split screen playing the same Ps2 game, and WOW it actually is very noticeable and for me it was mostly the colors and not all the edge graphics.

Genpets and Playing God

I have been reading this site that has “Genpets” but still have no clue what the thing actually does if anything. The FAQ is pretty scary stuff.

I am guessing this whole site is a joke, but dear god it is a scary thought.

Nintendo being Sued After Recall

Nintendo is being sued for have sold the Wii with faulty wrist straps. I can understand that people are getting excited when playing, but I really think way to much of this wiimote damage is blown out of per portion. If you are swinging something around and let go of it, it is not the manufacturers issue it just bad coordination on your part. Why don’t you sue Sony because they didn’t make the plasma display stand up to what you feel is standard use with the wiimote.
