I didn’t end up getting out of bed this morning very early so the day is just starting off for me here. About all I have been able to get done this morning is the creation and completion of a pot of coffee.
I don’t think I mention the new phones that I picked up a little while back. I was looking for something small, cordless, stylish, and had a answering machine built into it. What I ended up finding was the Phillips DECT 225. Its actually turned out to be a nice set of phones. One thing I would like to see added to a system with the base station is a central address book. Each hand set can have an address book, but they are stored on the handsets. I really would like it to saved on the base station and be avail to any registered handset attached to that base station.
It has some pretty kick ass built in ring tones and I have been using the one that sounds a lot like the original Ninja Gaiden music from the NES.

The Ninja Gaiden ring tone is utterly radical… I just realized that you’re like the only dude I know that still has a land line. There’s nothing wrong with that of course, but what makes land lines work for you versus cell phone or voip?
I have DSL so I might as well keep the land line. If I didn’t get such a good deal on the DSL I would prob ditch the land line and just have my cell with cable internet. I actually looked into a “dry line” that is a line for DSL with no voice, but that was only $10 less than my current land line bill. :)
Ahhhh, that makes sense. As much as I like the cell phone-only approach, I’ll admit that there’s a certain amount of stability that I miss with land-lines. Just knowing that you’re not going to miss calls because your only phone isn’t charged or the network is on the fritz is kinda nice.
This reminds me, I need to make that ring tone we were talking about. :)
Dude, Ninja Gaiden was THE SHIT!
I have a land line too. I really was against the idea, as I’ve had a cell phone continuously for about 3 years now, and cable internet for about 2. In an attempt to get my bills in order (cheaper) I signed up for a DSL deal with land line and satellite t.v. (overall it was cheaper than what I was paying for cable). Then Verizon decides to tell us after we sign up and cancel our cable, that they’re upgrading to fiber optics and DSL will be unavailable until their upgrade is complete. So we told them to kick rocks on that part, kept the land line and directv, and I went back to the cable company and got internet alone.
The only thing I really hate about land lines is the cold calling you get from businesses, the wrong number calls, and the fact that I always have my cell in my pocket, and that’s less convenient with a land line.
