Dusting off the Topic

Its been a very long while since I made and posts on this blog, but I have not really had much of anything to post the last while. With the addition of Twitter and twitpic to my daily life a year or more back, the blog took a back seat. Most of the people I would be posting things of interest to are already following me on twitter and get a idea of what is going on in my life. I will see about posting more to sociallysour.org and bring some of the personal idea’s back to it.

Treo 755p Headphone Jack Repair

Since yesterday I have been having a issue with my trusty old Treo 755p. It seems to think it is stuck in headphone mode so I can’t actually talk on the phone or hear anyone with out headphones plugged in. Looking around on the palm forums I came across a thread of lots of people with the same issue.

After trying all the ideas listed on the site…

I covered (really covered) the headphone jack in WD-40 and rammed it into the headphone jack a million times. Eventually it started working as normal again. So at first your don’t succeed ram it in there a few million more times!

The Stp show last night was amazing. Prob one of the best shows I have seen in a while. Our seats where really good (Hard to tell from that cell phone image), but other than one drunk dude who keep shaking the boards we where all leaning on everyone/thing was cool. I am trying to remember for the life of me all the songs they played, but they didnt have a bad one in the set list… Although I also can’t think of a bad song they have. Crash Karma opened for them, and it was not to bad. Kinda sad the biggest applause for them was when they played a Tea Party song, but I guess that is to be expected since they have one EP out right now and only getting one song with radio play.

Last.fm Side Widget is Back.

Been using last.fm for a long while now, and use to have a plugin for wordpress that would show my track updates. Well the one I was using a long time ago stopped working and I never really had the time to look into why. Today I just looked for a new plugin todo the same task and found Last.fm For WordPress, that seems to be rocking the tracks to my side menu.

Getting The Nanna Computerizing

Recently I ordered a replacement keyboard for Erika’s old laptop a dell 250N. Since my Nanna had been thinking about getting a computer and trying out the internet I figured it would be a good start to see if should would actually want to put money into a computer. So I signed her up for some DSL thorough work and hooked her up with a router.

Issue one was trying to teach her how to use gmail, she is getting it and actually it is not going as bad as one would expect.

Issue two was a the fact most the plugs in here house do not have grounds. The plug I finally picked to hook up the router and modem on (do to phone jack location) already had a three way splitter on it. Off to get a power bar… Next her cordless phone was older than all hell and didn’t even say a freq it ran on. This obviously created hell with the router. So a cordless phone later and she was up and running. I thought having to make her use a new cordless phone would be over kill and just make her throw in the towel, but I think the new phone was pretty simple to her after the computer lesson. ;)

In other news I have setup the old forum.sociallysour.org. No real reason other than I found the final copy of it when it was taken down and wanted to see how hard it would be to install and updated to the latest version of phpBB. It is seeing some low usage right now from the original crew and a few new members.
