Sunday Morning Lazy
Posted in General on June 21st, 2009 by hurt – Be the first to commentNot much happening today… The weekend was actually pretty busy up till today. Had the people come to clean and check the furnace/ac unit, pool people came to open the pool, my buddy Jay stopped in with his girlfriend and daughter, Buddy Dave came over last night, and Erika baby sat Julia (sp?).
Only downside to it all was the diving board is missing a nut for one of the bolts to hold it to the base. Not a huge deal since its a standard bolt and is prob $0.50 at Homedepo. Be more of a pain trying to get it on myself that getting the actual part. Pool is full of water now and still a little cloudy, so I will have to head in to town at some point today to get some Chems for it.
In other news I decided to stop using flickr and have started to use Picasa again. You can check out my picasa images via this link. Oh and I added a icon on the side bar of the page to my twitter account
Computer Change Is A Foot
Posted in General on December 31st, 2006 by hurt – 2 CommentsThis weekend has been packed full of redoing the home network. I have been living off the laptop for the past few weeks and have not even had the server or main workstation on. I ended up doing a trade with eccentric, my lian-li case for a Sonata case with some of the AcoustiPack for it. I am not sure if it is actually that stuff, but it looks pretty close to that on the side panel. This this has cut down on a fair amount of the noise and I might end up getting some quieter options for my video card. I would like to get something else for my cpu too, but the mainboard does not have the mounting holes that most of these options require.. It might just have to wait till my next mainboard upgrade.
I also picked up a Acer 19″ wide screen LCD to replace the dual head 17″ CRT setup I was using. It has some less desktop realestate but cleans up the desk and for the summer will help keep the living room below boiling point with all the heat the CRTs and TV pump into the room.
Anyway I am pretty happy with the setup so far.. Mind you I had some major issues with harddrives dying during the install.. I have also not setup the workstation with a mirror for the first time in a while. It should actually speed things up a little, but I did like the extra protection before.
And now for the screen shot.. This should keep you warm on those winter nights. :)
Nothing kills the heat like a beer…
Posted in Computers, General on July 20th, 2005 by hurt – Be the first to commentIt has been really hot here the past while, and I don’t see it coming to a end anytime soon. I went out looking for a nice AC unit but sadly everyone seems to be sold out of them for now. If I dont find one soon I will just hold off and see about getting one in the winter or near the end of summer since I imagine the price might drop even more on them.
Today at work I setup and installed a nice ldap server. Wasnt as hard as I thought it would be, and really cleans up a install where more than one person might use a computer or two. It helped me figure out a install that I have kinda been thrown into looking after that already had one setup and didnt really know much about ldap. I cant seem to learn much of anything by looking at something after it is all done, I need to sit down and set it up myself to truly understand the workings of something like that.
Passing out is never the end
Posted in Computers, General on June 15th, 2005 by hurt – Be the first to commentGlad it has cooled off some here today, it was starting to get a little much. Even with all the heat I have been out for a good hour or two bike everyday. I didnt relize you could ride along the water front from my place all the way down town to the cop station with out hitting any streets for the most part. Still have not take the bike to work but it would not take long at all to do. Just with the heat and everything I dont think I would like to do that first thing in the morning yet.
Ended up comming home right after work and passing out on the sofa for a while, which is not like me at all. then got up and spent some time in the cool air cleaning up some harddrive here, managed to remove about 10gigs of crap that I didnt need or had backed up else where. Harddrive space is getting a little low for me so I am going to have to see how much clean up I can do and mabe get another harddrive.
