Busy Week So Far

Posted in General on April 15th, 2009 by hurt – Be the first to comment

The holiday weekend went pretty well. I ended up having a great brunch with my family in a nice private room that Erika booked for us a local restaurant. Then in the evening her family (a much larger group) came to the house for dinner. I mostly stuck to myself in the whole group until after dinner we broke out the Rockband and I felt more in my element.

On the Saturday we watched as two workers removed the Blue Spruce tree on the front yard, we did want there anymore. It was pretty impressive. You can check out some shot in my flickr set for it. The it was off to the grocery store with my nanna, as per our normal Saturday routine.

Erika and I plan on going out for drinks tonight with Scott at the Loyal Oarsman. I also have a fair bit of work ahead of me in the after hours. Guitar lessons start this weekend, and Erika and I plan to attend the SWITCH seminars that are going on locally this week and next.

Other than that I have two final quotes for getting the basement finally finished up and done, which I will prob call about setting up the time this week. Hopefully they can start sooner rather than later and get moving on that project.

Coffee: Heritage Coffee

Work has been getting all our coffee from The Heritage Coffee Company. My personal favorite blend so far has been the Sumatra Mandheling.

Wikipedia currently at the time of this post lists Sumatra Mandheling as:

Sumatra Mandheling and Sumatra Lintong — Mandheling is named after the similarly spelt Mandailing people located in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The name is the result of a misunderstanding by the first foreign purchaser of the variety, and no coffee is actually produced in the “Mandailing region”. Lintong on the other hand, is named after the Lintong district, also located in North Sumatra.

New Job, and Other Random Stuff

Posted in General on June 14th, 2008 by hurt – Be the first to comment

Well I ended up leaving where I was working to go work for a sister company to them. I am actually pretty happy I made the move and am now two weeks into the new job. Its close to what I was orig doing at the old job before I got shifted into do some other stuff because no one else was doing it. I really need to get back into the whole mind set of it though since I have been off of it for the last few months and doing other things.

The summer is in full swing, pool is open yard is in good shape and I have not felt over worked with having to keep it all in check. Several people expressed some concerns about me not being able to keep up with managing a house on my own, but it is actually not all that much work to look after. I actually enjoy it to a certain extent as it gives me something else to focus on for a hour or two at a time. Lots of stuff around that I would like to do, but plan to wait for now and maybe finish the basement next year sometime.

Had made plans to hang out today with one of the newer guys at my old work, but he didn’t end up calling at all.. Oh well what can you do..

Don’t really have many plan for tonight other than maybe a movie and playing some more rockband. Whiplash Assault is rated 1400 in the world on the PS3 charts for highest fans. We keep moving up but the higher we get the less we can move up in a night. Only a few songs now that we can not do on expert level in the default game. I have actually downloaded a pretty health amount of songs as it keeps the replay value high.

Awake And Ready For It

For some reason I woke up pretty early this morning considering it is Saturday (8:30am). I have a pretty busy day of yard work, laundry, tank cleaning, and all that other fun around the house stuff in store for me today..

I also have to go out to my moms and set her up with something other than windows 98. I have been trying to move her to something other than 98 for a LONG time, but she hates change. I would prefer to put her on Linux but she refuses it. I am thinking XP right now but might throw a old copy of 2000 I have kicking around here some place on. It all comes down to just getting something that her new camera will work with and anything above ME (shudder) will work for now.
